A Year of Change

We look back on 2019 and recognize changes in leadership and staff, strides toward increased product availability and the release of an entirely new product line.

Last year certainly had its challenges, but was met head on by an amazing group of channel partners worldwide. Overall, ASEA outperformed 2018 with more than 20% growth, championed by the entire European Theater and Southeast USA.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your partnership and express our dedication to serving you and our mutual customers this year.

From the Desk of the President

We have a lot to be excited about and a lot to look forward to as we enter 2020.

Sometimes, we are faced with saying goodbye to trusted friends and colleagues. As we enter 2020 we do so without David Brown at the helm of A/SEA Power Systems and the Mission Critical Electronics Marine Power Division as David has decided to start a much deserved retirement.

Over the past few years, David has been instrumental in consolidating and setting up our centralized operations in Huntington Beach, California and of course leading our marine business through an important transitional phase from past ownership. David’s strength as a leader is no more evident in the incredible legacy he has left with the business: a talented, tight-knit A/SEA Power Systems and MCE Marine Power team that has one primary objective of delighting our customers. We will miss David and wish him tremendous joy in the future.

While I am sad to see David go, I am extremely excited to be given the opportunity to succeed him and continue the important work he started on growing our businesses together through a customer-centric set of business priorities. My wife and I are equally excited to be relocating to the Huntington Beach area with our two sons. As I get started in the role, I look forward to talking to all of you over the coming months and learning more about each of your businesses and the needs you have to be successful. I look to couple that learning with my own 20 years of experience working with OEMs, reps, distribution and service partners in the marine industry and continue to build upon the customer centric foundation that exists at A/SEA Power Systems.

With a secure foundation we can focus on developing high quality innovative solutions that meet our customer’s needs and deliver world class service and superior customer satisfaction taking MCE Marine Power and our partners to the next stage of growth.  We are fortunate to have amazing partners like you and our 2019 success is your success…Thank You!

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: The ASEA Trident system allows two 50A shore cords to be combined to a Single 100A output. The pair of DBT12s provide Three levels of boost to keep your ship powered even when input voltages sag by 35%, and the paralleling box ensures that current is shared equally between the shore cords, which allows you to maximize the amount of power you can draw from even the worst shore cord conditions. The Three-piece system is a direct replacement for the popular and discontinued Charles PM3.

Looking Ahead

Future of Engineering

The New CPU is up and running in the test lab. Hardware shake-out has proceeded well and we are working on testing software now. The first version of code we will roll out is for three phase units only, and other versions will follow.

The addition of a real-time-clock and EEPROM memory is really adding to our capabilities! The new board is expected to be fully backward compatible, although our goal is to use them only on new units until we run out of the old CPU.

New product development is thriving at ASEA, with a couple of interesting units making their way through prototype testing. The DBT15 (a 63 amp 50/60Hz version of the popular DBT12) has completed stand alone tests and is now available for sale.

Following closely behind is the associated Paralleling Master that can combine the output of two DBT15s to create a single, 125A source. Also in the skunkworks is a single-box dual-shore-cord version of the Trident24. Stay tuned!

Improving Support

The launch of our internal support system at the beginning of last year has helped us to better serve both our partners and end users. To follow in step with customer service improvement, we recently implemented an auto-attendance to effectively route phone calls. Keep in mind, you can always immediately dial by extension if you know who you want to reach (see contact list below).

Also, at the end of last year, new competitive spare parts pricing was released. If you did not receive a copy please contact us.

We are also streamlining the module exchange process. To begin, the factory must first verify the module qualifies for the credit program. The customer must send the module information and pictures prior to shipment. Once qualification is verified, the factory will send an RMA number. Once the module is received and inspected, the customer will be issued a credit.

The team is continuing to improve our quality of service and manufacturing by kick starting in-house training programs for our production, repair and technical support teams.

Sales by the Numbers

As we roll into 2020, the Sales Department would like to extended a heavy Thank You and Appreciation to the fine work and effort put forth by the Channel Partners around the world. The amazing challenges faced and overcome by all of you not only surpassed expectations, but showed the true strength of the network A/Sea Power has in place. With the Sales Team flying more than 400,000 sky miles to support everyone of you, we see that it was all for the betterment and growth of A/Sea and your businesses. Not to mention, to help solidify the relationship and bonds built over the past few years. I feel that 2020 will still have a few challenges to overcome, but the foundation we’ve built together as a team cannot be crushed or destroyed. Trust, commitment and determination helped us as teammates to grow our businesses. More so, to help grow the future and beyond.
